CleanYourTV

What it does
A set of scripts and a small home-screen app for TVs running Android TV or Google TV. Over your Wi-Fi, using the TV's own developer options, it notes what is installed, switches off the maker's ad services, tracking and preloaded apps (nothing is uninstalled), then installs a 561 KB launcher with a black home screen, a dock and a grid, in 30 languages. One command puts everything back. It is meant to be driven by a coding assistant, about fifteen minutes; you can also run every command yourself. Lists for 360 TV models are included. Samsung, LG and Roku are not supported.
How easy it is to install
D · terminal, several tools or a specific graphics card · Windows
- Windows D
- macOS D
- Linux D
Same work on all three systems, and it is terminal work: the computer needs Python 3, a full JDK between 17 and 22, and Android SDK platform 34 with build-tools 34 because the launcher is built on your machine (there is no ready APK), plus developer options and ADB turned on on the TV. Linux and Mac use the shell scripts, Windows the PowerShell twins with `-ExecutionPolicy Bypass`. A Docker route (tools/docker-build.sh) replaces the JDK and SDK with Docker.

- Attentiontv debug port left open
The README's own answer to "Isn't ADB access a security hole?": "Network ADB is plaintext on port 5555, and on some firmware any device on the LAN gets a shell, so close it when you are done." While the work is in progress anyone on your network can reach that shell; the repo ships tools/adb-closed.py to check that the port is shut afterwards.

- Attentioncan break tv features
Switching off the wrong package has consequences the README documents: on Google TV the setup wizard "can take Home and crash-loop the system", and disabling it "deletes the network" if the Wi-Fi was saved during setup; on Chromecast and the Google TV Streamer it costs phone casting. The FAQ's way back when the TV no longer starts far enough is "a factory reset from its recovery menu".

- Attentionai assistant decides what to disable
The recommended path is to paste PROMPT.md into a coding assistant, which then "backs up, debloats, builds and installs the launcher" on a TV it discovers by itself: "the prompt has your coding assistant discover it on your TV and ask before touching anything you might use." You are trusting an AI's judgement about which system packages your TV needs. The repository's own topics include claude-code and vibe-coding.

- Infowarranty and firmware updates
Legal section: "You run it on a TV you own, at your own risk, and changing a TV's software may affect its warranty or support." After a firmware update "the listed packages come back, Home goes to the stock launcher", so the job has to be repeated; some lists also disable the TV's own updater.

- Infono prebuilt app file
FAQ, "Can I just download the APK?": "Build it with the one-line script... No prebuilt binaries." The 10 GitHub releases carry no files for any platform.

What Radar could not check
- Whether it works on your exact TV model, especially one without a tested list
- Whether the restore script really puts every TV back the way it was
- How long the launcher build takes and how much disk the Android SDK and JDK add
- What the coding assistant decides to disable on your TV, which differs every run
- Whether the community phone app linked from the README does the same thing as safely
- Whether a future firmware update from the maker blocks the method
