Hyperframes
heygen-com/hyperframesReviewed by AI
What it does
HyperFrames writes video the way a web page is written: you make an HTML file with text, images, clips and animations, and it plays each frame in a hidden Chrome and encodes it with FFmpeg into an MP4. The same file always produces the same video, which suits automatic pipelines. It comes with a catalogue of about 450 ready-made pieces (titles, captions, charts, transitions) and skills so Claude Code, Codex or Cursor can build the video for you. For people comfortable with HTML and a terminal; it needs Node.js 22+ and FFmpeg.
How easy it is to install
C · install 1 or 2 tools · Windows
- Windows C
- macOS C
- Linux C
The documented path is the same on all three systems and macOS is the best covered: install Node.js 22 or newer and FFmpeg, then `npx hyperframes init my-video`, `npx hyperframes preview` and `npx hyperframes render`. There is no installer in the GitHub releases; the README links a separate desktop app download for macOS, Windows and Linux (.deb) from the project's own website, which is outside this repository.

- Accounts or keys
- Google Gemini (image captioning while capturing a website), HeyGen (voiceover, avatars and generated video through the /media-use skill), AWS (only for the Lambda rendering path)
- Cost
- Free · Apache-2.0, and the README says there are "no per-render fees or commercial-use thresholds". Optional extras cost money: a Gemini key for image captioning (the project estimates about $0.001 per image), HeyGen's paid services through the /media-use skill, and AWS Lambda if you render in the cloud.

Risk signals (5)
- Infodesktop app comes from outside the repository
The README offers "Download the desktop app: macOS · Windows · Linux (.deb)" from hyperframes.studio links with tracking parameters, while every GitHub release here has no platform binaries. What that app contains cannot be checked from this repository.
AI review
- Infocompany project that also sells services
The repository belongs to heygen-com and the README says HyperFrames "is used in production at HeyGen". The /media-use skill gets "music, sound effects, images, icons, logos, voiceover, avatar and generated video ... with HeyGen or free local tools", so the free framework also leads to the company's paid service.
AI review
- Inforuns a browser and the scripts inside your composition
Rendering "seeks each frame in headless Chrome" with Puppeteer and runs whatever JavaScript the HTML contains. The README's own example loads GSAP from cdn.jsdelivr.net at render time, and `npx hyperframes add <block>` copies code from the catalogue into your project, so a composition or block from someone else runs its code on your machine.
AI review
- Infoinstalls skills into your ai assistant
`claude plugin install hyperframes@hyperframes` or `npx hyperframes skills update` writes skill files for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and others. The README warns that a project-local install "can overlap the tracked skills/ source and overwrite uncommitted edits".

What Radar could not check
- Whether the advertised desktop app removes the need for Node.js and FFmpeg.
- How long a render takes and how much CPU and disk it needs, since every frame is drawn in a browser and then encoded.
- Whether an AI assistant really produces a usable video from one prompt.
- Whether fonts, music and video clips suggested by the /media-use skill come with rights you may use.
- What the AWS Lambda rendering path costs if you deploy it.
