LX Music

lyswhut/lx-music-desktopReviewed by AI

Radar found strong risk signals in this project. It stays visible so you can read the evidence, but it is left out of rankings and recommendations.

What it does

LX Music (洛雪音乐助手) is an Electron desktop app that searches songs on Chinese music platforms such as Kuwo, Kugou and Migu, shows the results and plays them, with playlists, lyrics and keyboard shortcuts. It carries no music of its own: the app's own terms say it only passes the song name and artist to a "custom source" you set up in the settings, and plays whatever link that source returns. Ready installers exist for Windows 7+, macOS and Linux. The app and all its documentation are in Chinese.

How easy it is to install

B · installer plus one simple step · Windows

  • Windows B
  • macOS B
  • Linux B

Every system has a ready download: Setup .exe files (including a Windows 7 build) and portable .7z archives for Windows, .dmg for macOS, .deb, .rpm and AppImage for Linux. What keeps it off the top grade is that nothing plays until you add a music source in the settings, and the README says the defaults and the interface are deliberately not beginner-friendly ("为了提高使用门槛") and asks you to read the playlist and shortcut guides first — all of which are in Chinese only.

Risk signals (5)

  • Highplays paid music catalogues without a subscription

The project's supplementary terms in the README name the built-in sources as the official platforms Kuwo, Kugou and Migu ("酷我、酷狗、咪咕等音乐源的官方平台"), say data is pulled from their public servers as a logged-out app would see it, and then require: "使用者务必在 24 小时内清除使用本项目的过程中所产生的版权数据" — the user must delete any copyrighted data produced while using it within 24 hours. The same text says use is "仅用于对技术可行性的探索及研究" (only for exploring technical feasibility), "禁止在违反当地法律法规的情况下使用本项目" (do not use it where local law does not allow) and "请尊重版权,支持正版" (respect copyright, support the official releases). In other words the app's everyday use is listening to catalogues those platforms sell by subscription, and the project puts the legal responsibility on you.

    AI review

  • Attentionmusic sources come from outside the project

README terms 1.2: "本项目本身没有获取某个音频数据的能力" — the project itself cannot obtain audio; it hands the song name and artist to the "源" chosen in the "自定义源" setting and plays whatever link comes back, and it "无法校验其准确性" (cannot check whether that is the right audio). Those source files are written and distributed by other people, not by this repository, and they run inside the app.

    AI review

  • Attentiondevelopment moved to a different project

README note: the new project Any Listen already covers most of LX Music's features and "我们以后的开发精力将主要集中在新项目上" — future effort goes mainly to that new project, with users invited to migrate. The last commit here is 42 days old (2026-09-19) against 1308 open issues.

    AI review

  • Infooptional local http server and browser control

README: since v2.7.0 an "开放 API 支持" feature starts a local HTTP service that exposes player interfaces to other programs, and since v1.17.0 a Scheme URL feature lets a browser call the app, with a companion userscript published on Greasyfork. Both are switched on by you, and anything on your machine that can reach that local service can drive the player.

    AI review

  • Infoonly github releases are the real downloads

README: "目前本项目的原始发布地址只有 GitHub,其他渠道均为第三方转载发布,与本项目无关!" — the only original release address is this GitHub releases page and every other channel is a third-party repost the project disclaims. Copies found elsewhere are not covered by this check.

What Radar could not check

  • Whether any music source still works, since the sources are supplied by third parties and change often
  • What a given source file does besides returning links, which only reading and running it would show
  • Whether the audio that plays is really the song you asked for, which the project itself says it cannot check
  • Real disk use after installing, estimated at 116 to 347 MB
  • Whether the app works for someone who does not read Chinese, as the interface and all documentation are in Chinese
