Universal Modder
rehan-remade/universal-modderReviewed by Radar
What it does
Universal Modder is a set of instructions, tools and notes for AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Codex or Cursor. You ask the assistant to mod a PC game you own, and it identifies the game engine, reads the game's code, writes the mod, makes art and sound with the paid fal service, tests it in the running game and records a video. It is for gamers and modders comfortable with a terminal. You need an AI coding assistant, Git, Python 3.10+ and FFmpeg; Blender is needed for 3D renders. The README says it refuses to bypass anti-cheat, DRM or ownership checks.
How easy it is to install
D · terminal, several tools or a specific graphics card · Windows
There is no installer: you add it as a plugin inside an AI coding assistant, install the `um` tool with uv or pipx, and need Git, Python, FFmpeg and optionally Blender.
Coming soon: install in 1 click with the RepoPicks app.

- Attentionreverse engineering and input control
README.md: the reverse-engineering skill uses "ILSpy / Cpp2IL / Vineflower / Ghidra and IDA over MCP / Cheat Engine / Frida / RenderDoc", and `um win drive` sends input to the game; the README says it "asks before driving your mouse and keyboard, installing loaders into game folders".

- Infogame terms may forbid modding
README.md targets games such as GTA V, Halo and Elden Ring and says "It refuses to inject into online games with anti-cheat... or bypass anti-cheat, DRM or ownership checks"; modding can still conflict with a game's own terms.

- Infoplugin hook changes path
README.md: "The Claude Code plugin puts it on PATH (its SessionStart hook)".

What Radar could not check
- Whether a given game can actually be modded this way, and how many attempts it takes.
- Real cost in AI assistant usage and fal credits for one mod.
- What the PowerShell tools with embedded C# do on your system.
- Whether a mod could break a game install or save files despite the backup step.
- Whether modding a specific game breaks that game's terms of use.
