Android Ad Cleaner

What it does
Android Ad Cleaner is a Mac and Windows app for Chinese-brand Android phones (HyperOS, ColorOS, OriginOS, MagicOS and others). You plug the phone in by cable, it detects the model, then flips the phone's own settings to turn off personalised ads, ad tracking, trending searches, news feeds, store promotions and marketing notifications, while keeping order, delivery and weather alerts. No root and no reflashing, and changes can be undone. You first switch on developer mode and USB debugging on the phone. There is also a Python command line. The app and the documentation are in Chinese.

Best on Mac: AndroidAdCleaner-0.2.9-mac-arm64.dmg (with AndroidAdCleaner-0.2.9-mac-intel.dmg for Intel Macs) is described in the README as signed and notarised by Apple, so it opens with a double click, and you need neither Python nor an AI tool — only a cable and one extra step on the phone, turning on developer mode and USB debugging. Windows works the same way with AndroidAdCleaner-0.2.9-windows-setup.exe or the portable zip, but the README warns that Windows shows "Windows protected your PC", so you must click "More info" and "Run anyway".

AI review
- Attentionrequires usb debugging
Usage requires developer mode and USB debugging on the phone (docs/00-打开开发者模式.md), which lowers the phone's own protection while it is on. The tool offers to close it again as the last step: "python3 tool/run.py -s <序列号> dev-off --yes # 从电脑关闭开发者模式".
AI review
- Attentionsuspends vendor ad packages
README table: "广告组件 | com.opos.ads、com.miui.systemAdSolution 等 | pm suspend 挂起,要机主同意" — it suspends vendor ad components (with the owner's agreement, and reversible by one command), so parts of the maker's software stop running as shipped.
AI review
- Infodevice support varies and partly unverified
The tested-models table marks several entries as not yet verified, for example "OPPO | Find X9 Ultra(PMA120) | ColorOS 16.0.10 | ❌ 页面和 N6 不同,待补" and "魅族 21 Pro ... ⚠️ 从开启状态自动关闭待验证". The README adds that settings pages change between system versions and that steps whose entry point is missing are skipped.

- Infosends diagnostics with feedback
README: the client's feedback button "会自动附上客户端版本、手机型号、系统版本和最近的日志(序列号已替换,不含应用列表和通知内容)", and release 0.2.9 points to docs/12-错误日志上报.md about error-log reporting.

- Infono automatic updates
README for v0.2.9: "旧版不会自动更新,0.2.7 起的客户端左下角会提示新版;请重新下载" — older versions do not update themselves, you have to download the new one by hand.

What Radar could not check
- Whether it works on your exact phone model and system version: the README's own table shows some scripts still waiting for verification.
- Whether the automatic screen reading taps only the intended switches on a phone that is not in the table.
- Whether the undo steps put everything back, and whether a system update brings the ads back.
- What the error-log reporting actually sends to the developer.
- The real disk space used: the checks estimate 29 to 87 MB for the installers.
- Whether suspending the vendor ad packages affects other features of the phone over time.
