Free alternatives to Adobe Camera Raw
4 free programs that can replace Adobe Camera Raw, each pairing checked by Radar's AI reviewer or by Radar.
Adobe Camera Raw is the component that opens and develops raw files from digital cameras inside other Adobe programs, adjusting exposure, color, contrast and detail before the photo is exported. It is mostly used by photographers, from hobbyists to professionals, who shoot raw instead of JPEG.
What to check before moving to another raw developer:
- That your camera model's raw format is supported, including newer cameras.
- How your old edits are stored. Adjustments saved in sidecar files or a catalog often cannot be read by another program, so you may need to export finished versions first.
- Whether you depend on presets, lens corrections or color profiles that will need to be rebuilt.
- Whether you also need to pass photos to Photoshop or deliver them to clients in a given format.
The look of your photos may change slightly, so process a few test images side by side. See the options in the list below, such as darktable and RawTherapee.
