Free alternatives to Midjourney
3 free programs that can replace Midjourney, each pairing checked by Radar's AI reviewer or by Radar.
Midjourney is an online image-generation service: you describe what you want in text and it returns pictures. It is used by designers, illustrators, marketers and hobbyists who need concept art, mood boards or quick visual ideas. It is sold as a subscription, so the work depends on an account.
Before you switch, check a few things:
- Hardware: tools such as ComfyUI and Stable Diffusion web UI run on your own computer, and a capable graphics card makes a big difference in speed.
- Results: every system has its own look and responds to prompts in its own way, so expect to relearn how to ask for what you want.
- Models and terms: the models you load come with their own licenses, so read what they allow before using images commercially.
- Your archive: download the images and prompts you want to keep before cancelling your account.
Setting up takes more effort than opening a website, so try it on a small project first. The list below shows the alternatives found.
