What it does
Savage Wind Recomp rebuilds The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch version 1.9.0) as a native Windows or Linux program, with PC graphics options, keyboard and mouse, any controller and 60 fps or more. No game files come with it: you supply a copy you extracted yourself from your own Switch, and the program rebuilds the game code on your PC once, about 15 minutes, 35 GB of free space and a Vulkan 1.3 graphics card. It is an early alpha: only the opening and the Great Plateau have been played through. Dumping a game you own is allowed in some countries and not in others.
How easy it is to install
C · install 1 or 2 tools · Windows
The Windows release is a zip you extract and run with nothing to install, but it only starts once you point it at game files you extracted from your own console, and the first run rebuilds the game code on your machine, about 15 minutes with 12 threads, 35 GB of free space and a GPU with Vulkan 1.3.

Dumping a game you own for personal use is legal in some countries and not in others; that is your responsibility."; "The game code you generate and the build made from it contain Nintendo's code. They are for your own use only: don't share them, upload them or ship them."

What Radar could not check
- How far the game really plays past the Great Plateau on your own machine.
- How long the one-time build takes on a CPU with fewer threads or without AVX2, where it runs in a slower compatible mode.
- Whether the ARM AppImage works at all: the README says it has never run on real ARM hardware.
- Whether the released zip matches the code in the repository, since the binaries are built by the project.
